Product Details

This is a pair of gorgeous antique arts and crafts style bookends made by the Craftsman Studios. Each is marked with the S within C mark that is purported to be the earliest mark of the Craftsman Studios. The Craftsman Studios were founded in 1918 in Brooklyn, New York by Carl Wirths, moving in 1921 to Los Angeles and finally to Laguna Beach in 1929. They are hand hammered and made of blue patinated copper with the centre motif in a gold tone. Each measures 5 1/2 in height and has a base measurement of 6 by 3. Together, they weigh 1 lb and 4 oz. One bookend has a felt covered bottom while the other has a cloth covered bottom - you might want to re-felt the bottoms on these. Otherwise, these are in great condition, very well preserved. Note that the photo lighting enhanced the colour and reflectivity of the metal - depending on setting, these may look less vibrant.
This is a really wonderful pair of early Craftsman Studios bookends - nice additions to a collection or just as display pieces on their own.
