This attractive rug uses an embroidery stitch to create a flat weave. It is hard to imagine how long it would take to produce something of this quality as a handmade piece. Suzani is taken from the Persian word Suzan, which means needle. This piece is full of character with its stylised peacocks, goats, camels, fish, swans, and other questionable animals! There are 121 goats on the border alone.
